Neil Marthedal

Neil Marthedal

2014 Homecoming Grand Marshal

Neil Marthedal was born and raised in the Easton area, attending Oleander School and the new Pacific Union Elementary School. After graduating from Washington Union High School in 1969, he furthered his education at Fresno City College then transferred to California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, where he earned an engineering degree with honors.

Neil and his bride, Nancy Zener, moved to Portland, Oregon, where Neil started his career in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. After a time in the Northwest, they returned to Easton and Neil established Miller-Marthedal, now Marthedal Solar, Air, and Heating.

An individual of profound faith in Jesus Christ, Neil joined NewLife Community Church and has served in many leadership and servant roles through the years with youth, men, building projects, musical groups and Bible studies. He served on the board of the Fresno Rescue Mission while in his 20s and 30s.

Along with members of the Easton Men’s Bible Study, Neil began the Fellowship of Christian Athletes or FCA at Washington Union in 1988. Since that time, with wonderful cooperation by the school’s administration, 80,000 free lunches prepared by the Easton area churches and served at Immanuel Lutheran Church have benefited students on a weekly basis.

Because of the generosity of the people of Easton, hundreds of local student athletes have attended FCA Sports and Leadership Camps, with 92 young people, the largest number ever, going to summer camp in 2014.

Neil continues to lead the WUHS FCA Boosters by coordinating the weekly lunches and speakers, and fundraisers. He has also served on the Central California and National Boards for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Neil served two terms on the Washington Union School Board and is a member of the Oversight Committee for Measure W. He cares for the people of Easton and desires to lead and serve by God’s grace.

Neil is surrounded each day by many who love him and are inspired by him. …Family, friends, co-workers, the list goes on.

Neil’s latest journey is his battle with cancer. He continues to fight and be a great example to those who have trials in their lives. Keep praying for him and encouraging him. He is praying for and hopes to be an encouragement to all of you.

Congratulations, Neil Marthedal, 2014 Homecoming Grand Marshal!
