Washington Unified School District is proud to announce that Frank and Joyce Butterfield have been named the Washington Union High School 2019 Homecoming Grand Marshals.

Frank Butterfield was born on August 6, 1945, in Fresno, California to Frank Butterfield Sr. and Aloha. Frank grew up in Easton with his sister Roberta, who was a 1958 Graduate of Washington Union High School. Frank has called the Easton community home for over 70 years.

Joyce Butterfield was born in Fowler on November 30, 1946, and grew up in the Easton community.  Joyce attended American Union Elementary School and Washington Union High School along with her two sisters Betty and Grace and her brother Ron Davis.  All four Davis children are graduates of Washington Union High School.

Frank and Joyce met while attending Washington Union High School and were married in 1967.  Frank and Joyce celebrated their 52nd year of marriage in August 2019. The Butterfields’ ties to Washington Union run deep. Joyce served the Easton community as a Washington Union and Southwest bus driver for 25 years.  Frank worked in the Easton community for Cooper Insurance for 25 years. In 1995, he was elected to the Washington Union High School District Board of Trustees where he served until 2017. He has been an active member of the Easton Lions Club since 1974 and a charter member of the Bernard Tobin Knights of Columbus Council 9153.  Both Butterfields are members of St. Jude Church and are actively engaged in the WUHS community, volunteering at various campus events and serving in the WUHS Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) lunch program.

The Butterfields take great pride in their children and grandchildren.  They have two daughters, Lesa and Stacey. Both daughters attended Washington Union High School, Lesa graduating in 1990 and Stacey graduating in 1993. Stacey is married to Steve Scheidt, who is also a graduate of Washington Union High School.  Stacey and Steve have two daughters, Ashley (19) and Amanda (18). Lesa is married to Jason Yount and they have two children, Peyton (19) and Daylon (16). Their grandchildren attend other school districts, where Frank and Joyce attend their sporting events and activities.

This year’s Homecoming game will take place on October 18th.  WUHS will play Liberty High School. Frank and Joyce would like to thank the school district, staff, and community for this honor. Congratulations to Frank and Joyce Butterfield, the Washington Union High School 2019 Homecoming Grand Marshals!
